In a surprising move, Eminem addresses his past controversy and extends an apology to Rihanna in his latest album.
The 48-year-old rapper, also known as Slim Shady, released his new album “Music to Be Murdered By—Side B” unexpectedly on Friday. In the track titled “Zeus,” Eminem takes the opportunity to express remorse for previously supporting Chris Brown in lyrics that emerged in 2019.
Eminem’s lyrics on “Zeus” convey his commitment to honesty and offer a heartfelt apology to Rihanna. He acknowledges that the leak of their collaboration was not intended to upset her and takes responsibility for his actions, admitting that he was wrong.
In the past, Eminem faced backlash for his lyrics supporting Chris Brown after his assault on Rihanna in 2009. However, it is worth noting that the songs “Love the Way You Lie” (2010), “Numb” (2012), and “The Monster” (2013) were all successful collaborations between Eminem and Rihanna. The controversial lyrics in question were reportedly produced during the sessions for Eminem’s 2009 album “Relapse.”
Following the assault, Chris Brown was placed on probation for nearly five years and ordered to complete 1,000 hours of community service. In 2012, he and Rihanna briefly reconciled, but their relationship ended once again in 2013.
