Beyoncé and Jay-Z have made headlines with their reported purchаse of a stunning Malibu home for a whopping $200 million. Designed by renowned architect Tadao Ando, the 40,000-square-foot property sits on 8 acres of land overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The home, which took nearly 15 years to build, features a unique all-concrete structure, reflecting the architect’s signature style.
Previously owned by art collector William Bell Jr., the property boasts Bell’s private art collection and incorporates design elements such as a water feature and a pool. With an impressive 7,645 cubic yards of concrete used in its construction, the home showcases a meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship.
While the price tag for the Malibu oasis is the highest ever paid for a home in California, it falls short of the title for the most expensive home sold in the nation, which currently belongs to hedge fund titan Ken Griffin. In 2019, Griffin purchased a four-level home inside 220 Central Park South in New York City for approximately $238 million.
This latest real estate acquisition marks Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s second major purchаse in California. In 2017, they bought a Bel-Air mansion for $88 million, subsequently investing additional funds to enhance its value to nearly $100 million.
The celebrity power couple’s acquisition of the luxurious Malibu property was facilitated by renowned broker Kurt Rappaport, who represented both sides of the deal.
