Rick Ross is renovating it for $20 million after spending $35 million or more on this Miami property

Rick Ross is spending an additional $20 million on gut renovations to his Miami estate he purchased for $35 million in August.

Rick Ross, the rap mogul from Miami, is a titan in the music business and is currently building a magnificent home.

The Miami Gardens-born rapper, who is nominated for a Grammy, made waves last summer when he paid a whopping $35 million for a waterfront mansion on Star Island.

The Post has uncovered that Ross, whose true name is William Leonard Roberts II, didn’t stop at the purchase price.

With an additional $20 million, he would completely renovate the property, turning it into a $100 million megamansion that will rival the lavish residences of Miami’s wealthy, like billionaires Jeff Bezos and Ken Gryphon.

The 4,000 square feet that will be added to its footprint is just one of the luxurious things that are in store.

“We are excited to be expanding the home towards the ocean and we are planning a Japanese rare Koi fish pond, the walls with maybe a Basquiat painting,” Ross told The Post.

Ross was drawn to the 12,400-square-foot estate last year, which is situated at 37 Star Island Drive. Ross enthusiastically publicised his purchase on social media in mid-July, following the Star Island homeowners association’s approval.

It appears that Ross’s A-list neighbours are as excited about his new residence. A neighbour named Sean “Diddy” Combs even gave Ross a golf cart so he could get about the island’s private areas.

However, Ross is not basing this redesign only on his personal preferences.

To realise his idea, he has sought the help of wealthy and renowned home builder Manny Angelo Varas. Varas is renowned for his caution when dealing with well-known customers, and he has experience building opulent estates appropriate for the upper class.

“He thinks big and wants this to be one of Miami’s greatest homes which allows us the opportunity to be innovative and creative with the design and the materials we use,” Varas told The Post. “Once complete this is going to be of the city’s most valuable and iconic homes worth $100 million.”

The Post was able to secure exclusive images of the reconstruction, which show the home completely demolished. But eventually, among other luxurious amenities, it will have a large recording and production studio. The renderings feature a luxurious pool situated directly on the water, encircled by opulent lounge chairs. They also feature a tasteful facade that is accentuated with a large amount of glass, which helps let light flood the interiors.

Longtime Oracle CEO Yale Brown sold Ross the home, which had been offered for $37.5 million. Ross’s purchase represented a startling increase in value over time, as Brown had purchased the home for $4.6 million back in 1999.
