According to reports, Kylian Mbappe is requesting an incredible £107 million signing-on bonus in addition to an eye-watering £60 million annual salary in order to join Real Madrid.
Mbappe’s lucrative contract at Paris Saint-Germain is set to expire in June, meaning that he will likely be available on a free transfer. However, that is the only benefit of the deal. The France captain had long toyed with the idea of moving to Madrid, but he infamously decided in 2022 to stay in Paris and quickly agreed to a new contract that the team said would continue until 2025.
The fixed terms were actually only valid until June of this year because Mbappe has to approve an extension. It has now surfaced that he is requesting enormous sums from Real, with a decision over his future scheduled to be made in the upcoming months. However, those amounts are almost twice as much as the 14-time European champions are ready to play, according to German publication Bild.
Real wants “written guarantees” in order to prevent another backflip or last-minute change of expectations, and they have only given the 25-year-old an annual salary of £30 million.
Los Blancos’ financial difficulties are not the only ones, since Mbappe’s present employers are still willing to pay him £86 million a season to stay in the French capital.
That’s in spite of PSG’s decision to fire him from their summertime preseason tour of Asia because they were upset that he had not signed the contract extension. After new manager Luis Enrique’s team lost its opening league match, club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi finally welcomed him back to the team in September, saying, “Kylian Mbappe is an incredible player and fantastic person.”
And the PSG group has never been more cohesive, both on and off the pitch.”
Liverpool, the reigning Premier League champions, are another team to worry about. They have long been interested in the World Cup winner. By the time France kicks off their Euro 2024 campaign against Austria on June 17, Mbappe will want his future settled.
In addition, the forward is anticipated to play for his nation in the forthcoming Olympic Games in Paris. The football matches will begin on Wednesday, July 24, a mere ten days following the European Championship final in Berlin. Mbappe stated earlier this month in an interview with France2: “I’ve always had the Olympic flame.”
