PSG’s performance in the Champions League group stage was lacklustre as they finished second amongst Newcastle, AC Milan, and Dortmund. Luckily, they only faced Real Sociedad in the 1/8 round, so they were spared numerous death draws.

The Paris team welcomed their opponent, Spain, at home for the opening leg of the match. They won 2-0 because to their excellent utilisation of this lead. The goals from Mbappe and Barcola gave PSG the victory over Real Sociedad. Coach Luis Enrique’s squad has a strong chance of making it to the quarterfinals with this outcome.
PSG didn’t start this game off particularly well. This club even played Real Sociedad to a scoreless draw in the first half. During the first forty-five minutes, the squad performed well, but they missed their chance to score. For instance, in this half, scorer Andre Silva squandered two excellent chances. Mikel Merino attempted a powerful long-range strike as early as the 45th minute, but the ball struck the crossbar of the Paris team’s goal.
The team led by Luis Enrique performed considerably better in the second half. They opened the scoring in the 58th minute. Marquinhos headed the ball into Real Sociedad’s goal from a corner kick, allowing Mbappe to score.

Mbappe became the first player in Champions League history to score in ten straight home games with this goal, setting a record. After seven appearances in the Champions League this season, this is the French striker’s fourth goal overall.
Following this goal, PSG played with even greater vigour. They outclassed their Spanish rivals handily. They scored their second goal by the seventieth minute. Barcola took Real Sociedad’s penalty area by dribbling the ball and then skillfully struck the goal to make it 2-0.
Real Sociedad conceded a 0-2 defeat after failing to score in the remaining minutes. To receive tickets to the next round, they must defeat PSG in the replay at Anoeta’s home stadium at 3:00 a.m. on March 6 with a margin of victory of two goals or more (against the away goals rule excepted).
