Recently, the first trailer for “The Expendables 4,” starring Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, and Randy Couture, was released. After the underwhelming box office performance of “The Expendables 3” in 2014, Stallone decided to put the sequel on hold until 2021 when he revealed plans to make a fourth film.
Arnold Schwarzenegger and other actors, such as Bruce Willis, who announced his retirement from acting due to health reasons, will not be appearing in the film again. The film is directed by Scott Waugh, and the screenplay is written by Spencer Cohen, Max Adams, and John Joseph Connolly.
Schwarzenegger’s departure from the franchise surprised the audience. In an interview with Paper Magazine, the actor explained why he decided to exit the franchise. He mentioned that he felt it was done and that he was not a part of it anymore. He also mentioned that he did the first “Expendables” film as a favor to Stallone and shot his scenes quickly in a church with Bruce Willis.
Schwarzenegger further explained that Stallone then asked him to appear in “The Expendables 2,” and later it was “The Expendables 3.” He added that it was just that, and they were going to do something together someday.
In Netflix’s “Arnold,” Schwarzenegger acknowledges that he always needed an enemy to keep pushing himself to new and greater heights, and he found that enemy in Stallone. The two actors, known as Arnie and Sly, were the biggest action movie stars in the 90s. Schwarzenegger mentioned that Stallone had already advanced with his Rambo films by the time he became famous after appearing in “The Terminator,” so he had to put in extra effort to catch up. The episode also revealed that the two megastars were neck and neck in their careers.
Stallone grew irritated that Arnie was perceived as superior to him because, unlike the wоunded or injured characters Stallone played in movies like Rambo, Arnie always seemed to triumph and leave no physical scars behind. The “Expendables” series and “Escape Plan” were created as a result of the two burying their old rivalry and becoming friends in the early 2000s.
“The Expendables 4” will feature new faces such as Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Megan Fox, Tony Jaa, Andy Garcia, Jacob Scipio, Levy Tran, and Iko Uwais. The film will involve a plot that sparks a nucleаr wаr between the United States and Russia. Stallone mentioned in a cover story for The Hollywood Reporter that Statham will make up 80% of the film. The first three “Expendables” movies, released in 2010, 2012, and 2014, collectively earned a staggering $800 million at the worldwide box office.
