Despite Kylian Mbappe’s subpar performance, Brest upsets Ligue 1 champions PSG by coming back from a two-goal deficit

Paris Saint-Germain, now third in Ligue 1, lost to Brest despite having a 2-0 lead because to a lackluster performance by Kylian Mbappe.

PSG took the lead through Asensio’s angled volley into the bottom corner, followed by Kolo Muani’s close-range finish after a deflection from Marco Bizot. However, Brest fought back in the second half, with a Danilo Pereira deflection finding the net and Mathias Pereira Lage sealing the comeback with a stylish backheel finish.

The stalemate kept PSG’s 14-game winning streak in Ligue 1 intact, but following their most recent loss to Nice, they are still attempting to maintain their lead in the standings. Asensio showed glimpses of his ability with a well-taken goal and important contributions after losing time due to injury. His dexterity and ability to create gaps benefited PSG’s attacking players.

In the upcoming months, everyone will be watching Mbappe closely, analyzing his every move and making predictions about his future. Nevertheless, Mbappe found it difficult to settle into a rhythm in this game, and as a result, one of the best players in the world put up a poor showing. He is expected to do exceptionally well for his club in these kinds of games.

PSG will face Strasbourg next before a rematch against Brest in the Coupe de France round of 16. Despite dropping points, they still hold a comfortable six-point lead at the top of Ligue 1, according to Luis Enrique’s side.
